Pinterest Challenge Day 5 & 6

Day 5

Summer Squash Gratin & Ice Bath

I love vegetables!  We pretty much always have squash and zucchini in our fridge.  Last year our garden yielded a ton of zucchini (squash never came in for some reason) and I wanted to find some new ways to use it up.  So when I saw this recipe I couldn't wait to taste it.  As Jake pulled his fork away from his mouth and swallowed, he uttered these words;  "I like this contraption.  It's really good!"  This is a big deal because Jake isn't a huge fan of squash or zucchini.  I will totally be making this again!

Slice zucchini, squash, and potatoes really thin.
Put a layer in a pan, salt and pepper, put a little bit of cheese, then keep adding layers salting, peppering, and cheesing each layer.
When you are finished you pour 1/2-3/4 cup of heavy cream.
Cover with foil.
Bake at 425 for 25 minutes
Uncover and bake 15-20 min.

There are so many ways to have fun with baths.  This morning we tried out the colored ice cube idea....verdict is in and we like it but don't LOVE it!  I think it would be more fun in the summer when Kylie takes colder baths so the ice cubes don't melt sooo fast.  She did have fun grabbing them before they melted, eating them, watching the water change all kinds of colors, and playing with the trays.

Tryin to Grab them before they melt.

Sad face because they were all gone.

Day 6

Monster Spray, Fudge Crinkle Cookies,

It's official...Kylie has nightmares now.  She hasn't had many but the few that she has had have been big deals.  When I get to her room she looks so terrified, she is shaking, and super worked up.  So I thought I would try out "Monster Spray".  Not sure if it will work on her but we'll see.  The scent is super relaxing so hopefully that will help soothe her too after a big scare!  Peaceful nights of sleep here we come?  I used the printable from here:

Fudge Crinkle Cookies

1 box of Devils Food Cake Mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 Eggs
1/2 cup powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350.  Stir together the cake mix, vegetable oil, and eggs.  Put powdered sugar on hands and shape dough into 1 or 1.5 inch balls.  Roll balls in powdered sugar and place 2 inches apart on pan.  Bake 7-9 minute.  Remove from pans after a minute and let cool.

THEN give a bunch away because the self control with these cookies is non-existent.  You literally cannot make yourself stop.....too easy.....totally making these again!
